Tonight!

Don't forget that tonight is the "Grill Out, Chill Out and Know Out" for our Student Ministry. It is taking place at the Freels house at 692 Holt Road, that's the road just beside Friendship Christian School and it starts at 6 p.m. and runs until 8 p.m.

Have Fun!

I just love Crossroads

And one of the reasons I love it so much is the simple fact that God has given us a very clear vision. You have heard me say many times that the vision for Crossroads became really clear a little over three years ago, and I mean really clear.

We took the time between then and now and started putting that vision into action. Here's the really cool thing. Some of you are really getting it! Yeah, that's right, some of you are really starting to catch on and feel the momentum that we have. That's the reason I love Crossroads......God made it clear and we are moving on. Now no one said it would be easy, we knew it would be exactly the opposite and that is proving true also, but we have already experienced great days and the best are still ahead of us.

If you can't line up with the vision that God has given Crossroads that's alright too. Just find a great place that you can line up with the leadership and get involved. We need to win people to Jesus.

See ya!

Just a thought

Have you ever thought that after a while the church kind of seems like a club?

I mean think about it, it's like the people that are inside know all the rules and the little things that they have to do but the people who visit come in and it all seems so foreign to them. They don't know when to sit or when to stand, they don't know what to say or do and they surely can't speak the churchy church talk.

I am so amazed at how the church builds walls instead of bridges. If you look at what Jesus said in Luke 15 when he speaks about the lost sheep. He doesn't put all of His effort into the 99 that he already has, he puts into finding the lost sheep.

We need to be concerned about those who are lost. That's what the great commission is all about isn't it?

Did you miss yesterday?

If you missed yesterday at Crossroads, then you missed it! What did I miss you ask? You missed a great service where we featured our great vocalists and musicians. Man, those were a couple of great services!

Crossroads is indeed honored and blessed to have such great talent and yesterday we took both services and allowed them to share with us their amazing talent and the great thing that God is doing in each of their lives. And it was truly unbelievable!

Thanks for a great day!

Prayer for VT

Heavenly Father,

Our heart breaks for all the victims and families involved in the tragedy. We pray that You will make Yourself known to all who are grieving. May your presence comfort those who mourn. We pray for the leaders of the school, the police, the doctors, the students, the wounded, the community, and the extended family members. God use the churches and believers to somehow minister to all the broken people. We pray that people would turn to you, oh God. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

(you may add your prayer in the comments section)

Work Day Coming

We are going to be scheduling a work day at the church in the next few weeks. We will be doing some general cleaning inside and some work outside. If you would be willing to help, please let us know.

Saturday Soccer

Alex my son plays soccer in the city league, so we spend Saturdays at the soccer field.

I was really excited to see and hear from so many of you today. Your excitement about Crossroads is really contagious. Continue to get the word out!

Student Ministry

Hey, most of you guys know that we brought Chris Arnold on staff to head up our Student Ministry. Chris is already doing a great job and he really hasn't even got started yet. Here's what we need for you to do.

We really need to start getting the word out about our Student Ministry. Chris already has some great things planned and we are already talking about things that are going to be happening next year. Several of the churches in our area are reeling from the lack of direction in this area, please help us get the word out and we are also going to need some of you to give more and volunteer more to make sure that we pull off the very best Student Ministry we can.

Great days are ahead...just make sure you are a part of it!

Great Quote

I heard a great quote yesterday from good old Sponge Bob. He was talking to Mr. Crabb when he said, "You can take care of anything with a little hard work."

So there you go, take it from Sponge Bob!

Finished!

Yesterday we wound up the "Snapshots" series and I hope that you guys enjoyed it!

Many of you had some great comments about yesterdays snapshot of sharing. The truth is that many of us are afraid to share our faith, we just feel like someone will ask us that one question that we can't answer and I think yesterdays message basically got all those fears out of the way. It's really simple but we've made it complicated.

Thanks to those of you who attended the "Q & A." If you were interested in attending and yesterday just wasn't good for you, be on the lookout for another one sometime in late May or early June.

I Stand Amazed......I really do!

The last five or so months at Crossroads have been amazing!

We got off to a late start thinking we would actually be able to launch this church when school started. But that didn't happen. We kicked off on November 12, 2006 just in time for the holidays, boy did that make things tough! We flew right into Thanksgiving and then into Christmas and then missed two Sundays because of weather. It almost seemed that if you looked at it from the outset and knew all these things were going to happen, you knew we would probably have a tough time making it, if we made it at all. That just simply wasn't the case.

We have been amazed at how good God has been. We have been amazed at how good people have been. And when you put those two things together, we are amazed at what has happened. Simply put, I stand amazed.

The next few months are going to be filled with really good stuff. We're looking forward to the launch of several new things and there is no doubt that they will propel us forward. Only God knows what's in store.

Thanks to all of you who have helped, prayed, given. We need you to continue doing the same.

We couldn't have made it this far without you!

One More Reminder

Hey for those of you who are signed up for the "Q & A" don't forget that it will take place just after the second service in the main auditorium, this Sunday April 15th.

Hey, Hey, Hey

We are winding up our "Snapshots" series this weekend with a look at the snapshot of sharing.

I think that when it comes to sharing our faith that a lot of us including little old me kind of get the wobble knees. I mean we have good intentions but we think that someone is going to ask us a question that we can't answer and the truth is that there will always be a question that you won't have the answer for. Make sure and be there this weekend, I am going to give you a really, really simple way to share your faith and I think you can get your arms around it very easily.

Take the time and invite someone and lets look to have another great weekend!

Peace and bubble gum!

Thanks!

Thanks to all you guys who jumped in and made this past weekend great!

Funeral Home Visits

Why is it that we wait until somebody dies to say something nice?

I mean you go to the funeral home and everybody is talking about the person who has passed away and I'm thinking we should have been telling them those things before they passed away. What good is it doing now?

Spend some time sharing with them before they leave this earth, don't wait till after.

Make it count now! Not when it's too late.

A What!

I love the things people say. Twice yesterday I heard people give their opinion of what they experienced at Crossroads. They both said the same thing, using the very same words and it is so funny to know that one person meant it in a negative way and the other person was all excited about it. Yet they both described their experience using the same words, interesting isn't it.

Well whether you like it or not, it is who we are. I kind of think of it as mission accomplished. At least for now!

Looking Back

Yesterday was unbelievable!

The weather was a little cold but both of our services had what I think was the biggest attendance we have ever had! Yeah!

People jumped in and helped and I think we pulled off two really great services. And just in case you were there for the second service and you heard that really big "boom" during my closing prayer, that wasn't Jesus bustin' through the back wall, someone (guess who) dropped their guitar. It liked to scared the living daylights out of me, but I just kept on praying! HA!

I will be posting more later in the day!

What is up with this weather?

I just left the church and we are getting things ready for two great services tomorrow, it's going to be great.

Check out the amazing flowers that we have around! They are just amazingly beautiful!

We hope to see you tomorrow and bring somebody!

I Am Tore Up...

Just wanted you guys to know that I am tore up about this weekend. I think you guys are going to really love what we're gonna do.

Now let me tell you that if you're bringing visitors and they aren't use to what we do you may want to give them a heads up. It's going to be all good!

If you could help in any way we would welcome you to show up early on Sunday and we will put you to work doing something.

It's going to be a great day!

Have You Invited Anyone this Weekend...

This weekend is one of the few weekends that people are really open to people asking them to attend church.

Please take the time to invite someone this weekend.....no matter where you attend.

I Just Love This.....

Sundays are always exciting days around Crossroads.

I really look forward to talking with people after the services, especially someone who has visited Crossroads for the first time. One of the reasons I like talking to the first timers is that they usually give you very honest feedback and its usually very positive.

But every now and then you get someone who must have walked in thinking it was going to be church as usual and they get their pants blown off them! I had one of these conversations this past Sunday. They came in evidently knowing nothing about how excited we are to use the different mediums we have available to us and communicate the unchanging (truth doesn't change)truths of the Gospel. One of my close friends and a regular attender now at Crossroads told me this, "it took me two times, the first time I was really blown away with all that was going on, the second time I was hooked."

This ain't your Grandmothers church! Never will be!

Now let me say that there is nothing wrong with Grandmothers church, it's just that we know we are called to do things a little differently. So if you are all into truth but not into tradition, then Crossroads is going to be a place where you are going to feel right at home.

"Grandmother, can you pass the fried chicken.....I got to get back to church!"

What a Day!

Yesterday we finally got back on track.....I mean we've been on track but so many people have been out of town the last few weeks that it seemed like something was missing, and it was. It was a bunch of you guys! We were glad to have you back!

Both services yesterday were great. Mike and the band did a great job and the energy and feel of both services was over the top. We also enjoyed a great communion service last night and the attendance for it was great too.

We're looking forward to a great week and hopefully a good Easter weekend!
