Has it come to this?

Today's reading.......

I'm still cruising through the book of Luke, that's Dr. Luke if you know what I mean. (sounds like he should of been on Days of our Lives)

Luke 18

-Prayer should be a way of life not just something you do at a certain time of day.
-Never give up.
-Religious people: it's not about the religion, its about the relationship.
-Being like a child makes a difference.
-Are we willing to give it all up to follow Jesus? Really give it up?
-Faith: the ability to see it!!!

Luke 19

-Jesus is always dealing with tax men. (seems like I do too)
-All kinds of people wanted to see Jesus. (even the short guys)
-Jesus always wants to visit us, to be with us.
-Are we willing to take a risk for the sake of the kingdom?
-Jesus wasn't some sweet talking push over. He could break bad when he needed to.

I'm whacked...

Yeah, this has been a busy, busy week in the church world and I am beginning to feel the effects.

We had a great first meeting of potential "community group" leaders last night. People seem really excited to get this "party started." If you are interested in being a group leader and you didn't get to make last nights meeting, let me know.

You can email me at randy@crossroadslebanon.com.

Cracker Barrel still rocks!

BBQ, corn and green beans with corn bread and cool glass of water.

Is it any better than that?

Ate at the CB in Whitehouse, TN today! (I think George W. and Laura were out of town)

Where I'm reading today......

Today was tough.....isn't it amazing how it is easy to push aside our time with God? Remember, if it's not on the schedule...it ain't happening!

Luke 16

-Adversity happens, make the most of it.
-You're not getting away with anything.
-What's more important?
-It doesn't matter how the world looks at you.
-God uses many things to prove His love for us.

Luke 17

-Set a great example.
-Forgive, forgive-it's worth it!
-Faith, you just gotta love it! A little goes a long way.
-Jesus always met people at the point of their need.
-Are you grateful for what God is doing in your life?
-As T.D. Jakes says, "get ready, get ready, get ready."

Community Group Meeting Tonight at Crossroads

Hey, don't forget tonights meeting 7 p.m. at the church.

See ya then!

Here's where I'm reading.......today!

Luke 14

-Jesus can tell the most amazing stories
-One of the things that Jesus loves doing is giving the religious people a hard time
-Don't try to be somebody else, just be yourself
-Make time for God
-There is a cost to following Jesus. Are we willing to pay it?

Luke 15

-Jesus loves hanging around with people who had bad reputations (thank goodness!)
-Jesus tells three stories to emphasize the value of those who are lost (do you think the church will ever get it?)

Listen to this....

Can you believe that someone actually stole some of the flowers out of our flower pots at the church? They did......man if you got the kahona's to do that I don't want to be standing beside you in a storm.

Flower thief!!!!!!

Why did you get so tore up?

I guess some of you have been wondering why it was so emotional for me to read from my journal on Sunday.

If you remember I said that when you take the time to write things down, you are basically recording the activity of God in your life. When you make a record of the things that are going on in your life on a daily, weekly or monthly basis and then you pull that record out a few years later and read it....it will blow your mind.

That's why I think you should do it. Yes it takes time and sometimes its a little inconvenient, but it is well worth your effort.

Now you know. And trust me, if you do it, it will be the same for you. Guarantee!

Here's where I'm reading....

I'm working myself through the Gospels right now.

Today I am in the book of Luke. You just can't read the Gospels too many times if you really want to know about the life of Jesus.

Read on people......and then write.

More later.

Weekend Reflections

Hopefully you guys were in attendance this past weekend, but the truth is that a whole lot of you probably weren't.

I think the vacation monster had finally reared it's ugly head because it seemed that there were a bunch of people gone. Once again the visitors picked up a good bit of the slack and we came out with a fairly decent Sunday.

The notes from yesterdays service have been posted on the Crossroads website. If you want you can just click here and it will take you there.

Take a few minutes and either print those off or write them down and stick them in your Bible for future reference.

Keep your eyes on the website as we are adding some new features. Just last week we added the CrossBlog which will keep you in the know with news and events. You need to check back daily as we will be posting information about all different ministries and happenings around Crossroads.

Have a great week and for those of you on vacation, ENJOY! (but get your tail back)

Usless info for your weekend

Reindeer eat moss to keep warm.

African elephants only have four teeth to chew their food with.

The Barbie doll was invented in 1959 by Ruth Handler (co-founder of Mattel), whose own daughter was called Barbara.

Ever wonder?

Have you ever wondered if God really knew what He was doing?

Well let me tell you, sometimes I do. Yeah, that's right. Sometimes even little old me gets to really questioning God and asking Him does He know what the heck is happening. And the truth is I am in one of those situations right now. I mean I am looking at what's happening and I am saying, "God this doesn't make any sense. What the heck are you doing to me?"

But one thing I know is true. When we get down the road a little bit and look back we usually can see that God knew exactly what He was doing.

I didn't write this post to say this, but this Sunday I am going to share a little bit about how you can be sure and follow God's hand in your life.

Oh well, back to work......and, "hey God.....how's this gonna work out?"

We got it goin on!

Keep your eyes on Crossroads the next few weeks!!!!

We got some stuff about to hit the fan! (in a good way)

The funk

Yeah, I said, "funk."

Isn't it amazing how some days you get up and you just find yourself totally out of the zone and in the funk....I mean when I went to bed it was all good! What happened?

Maybe a few hours of intense study will shake it off.

A big thanks

Hey, I just wanted to say a big "thank you" to all of you men and women who pitched in this past Saturday to make the work day a big success.

We had people of all ages show up on Saturday and do an amazing day of work at our building. (and some of you have got the poison ivy to prove it) In addition to those that showed up, some others donated materials and money to help buy the refreshments and lunch.

Thanks to all of you!

It's people like you guys that make Crossroads the great place that it is!

What a change!

Weekend Reflections

Wow! What a weekend...

The truth is that when my butt hit the bed last night I was dead. Why you ask?

Well just in case you didn't know, we had our first official work day at Crossroads this past Saturday. We asked people to come and bring their tools (toys for the guys) and be ready to get down and dirty doing all the things that needed to be done around our facility. We ended up with around 25 people who took the time out of their summer and their weekend to see that our building looked the best that it could. And man did they all do a great job!

We finished around 2 p.m. (after consuming lots of donuts, orange juice, water, drinks and about 10 large pizzas) and we got just about everything on our list done.

It looks great!

Then Sunday rolled around and I didn't know if I was going to have the energy to walk up on the stage....but I made it, two times to be exact. The crowds were great and we ended up with probably two of the best services we have had so far.

Then last night I went out with my family to J. Alexanders and had a little fathers day dinner. Now here's the real bummer to this story...I ordered the steak (since someone else was paying) and I could only eat half of it so I asked the waiter to get me a to go box which he did. Then I walked out and left the darn thing on the table.
I have been sick ever since! Oh well, it was a great day and Crossroads is the place to be!

We have a lot to be looking forward too....and some great stuff coming later this summer and this fall! You are gonna love it!

Useless info for your weekend...

Baker's Dozen

A regular dozen is twelve, but a baker's dozen is 13. Years ago in England there were strict penalties for those who gave short weight. During this era Bakers were usually not educated and terrible counters. So to avoid any penalties, the bakers would give 13 instead of 12 for a dozen, just in case they miscalculated.

Chip on his Shoulder

This idiom simply means to carry a grudge. It dates back to the 19th century. Fighters would put a chip on their shoulder and dare others to knock it off.

Looking forward to tomorrow...

Tomorrow we have our big work day!

For those of you who may be worried you can rest easy. We have donuts for you when you get there along with juice and coffee and we have tons of drinks and then for lunch we are gonna do pizza!

Yep, we're taking care of you.

See you bright and early on Saturday and if you are one of those people who didn't know if they could come and now you realize you can, come on!

Summer Don't have to be a bummer...

I just love summer!

And when I think about summer I think about putting on the shorts and flip flops and just taking it easy. Which is what a lot of you guys are doing even as I type this.

Well at Crossroads this summer we have decided to keep it a little on the exciting side. It seems that at many churches they just want to take the summer off and you really can't plan on going to their place and see anything exciting. Well that is certainly not the case at Crossroads.

We have a slate full of events for the summer and we don't want you to miss out on a thing, so make sure and be there every chance you get this summer. Oh by the way, we have some really exciting things planned for the fall.

Stay tuned......

I finally did it...

And I will tell you about it later....don't you love suspense.

Reminder of upcoming workday

This Saturday, June 16th we will be having our first workday.

We will start promptly at 8 a.m. and we will work till sometime after lunch. And speaking of lunch, we will be picking up the tab for lunch as well as water and other drinks.

Wear some old clothes and we hope to see you on Saturday.

(Don't forget to bring your weed eaters, gloves, dynamite etc.)

Sunday's 06/10/07 Starbucks Gift Card Winner

The winner for Sunday was Judy White!

Congrats to Judy......see what happens when you fill out those little tear offs.

Reflections on Sunday

We can truly tell that summer is here.

Many of you are enjoying time with family and friends and I couldn't be happier for you. That brings us to yesterday. We had really good crowds at both services and I have to admit that when I looked out at the faces there were a lot of you guys who were missing.....and I mean a whole bunch of you were gone. The bright spot is that there were a bunch of new faces in the crowd, that help make up the difference.

You are probably going to hear it a bunch....we look forward to having you regulars back and we welcome all of you guys who were visiting.

It was a great day!

Useless info for your weekend....

A snail can crawl over the edge of a razor without cutting itself.

This Sunday

We are continuing our look at one of our three vital relationships, "intimacy with God."

This week we are diving into an area that seemed really important to Jesus.

Make sure and be there this Sunday and bring a friend.

When Jesus Arrived...

He described God as a "shepherd looking for a sheep" as a "woman looking for a coin" as a "father looking for a lost son."

If that's the way Jesus described God then why does the church (that's us) forget those outside its walls and turn inward so quickly?

Just something to think about....

We are in serious need of some rain...

I am sitting in my office looking out at this somewhat overcast day and I just thought to myself, "how long has it been since we have had any significant rain?"

This week things have really started to turn brown and the lack of rain is starting to show everywhere.

Maybe that will change in the next few days......
