Conversation

Why is it that we want to talk about people or offer advice when really the best thing we can do is keep our mouth closed.

I love what it says in Proverbs, "The one who knows much says little, an understanding person remains calm." (Msg 17:27)

We could all use a little circmspect.

Busy Week

I have to admit that back when we were just getting Crossroads off the ground, I could hardly wait for the time when we would be busy. Well guess what? It's here!

This week we're moving offices and getting ready to welcome another staff member and man it is really wrecking my schedule. (in a good way) I haven't worked this hard since I was slinging groceries and selling gasoline. Oh well, its part of it and I'm lovin' it.

Stay tuned....

Reflecting

Yesterday was a really good day. I really like when things seem to go as we have planned. It was a great crowd with a lot of you just really excited to be back since we missed last week due to the weather.

We had several new people attend and some were as a result of the Shawn Groves concert.

Thanks to all of you who volunteer and help us pull it off, we couldn't make it without you!

I Wonder....

Our new "Director of Student Ministries" will arrive in town this week.

Chris Arnold, who is coming to be our "DSM" is one of the greatest most Godly young men that I know. I am totally stoked and excited about what God is about to do with Chris and his ministry at Crossroads. I have just been wondering where this part of our ministry is going to take us?

If you will, please take the time to pray for Chris as he begins this new chapter in his life. I believe that God has some great things in store for Chris and for Crossroads.

Keep tracking!

Thoughts from Last Night

We had a great time last night at Crossroads.

If you weren't there you really missed a great time. Our own Mike Cowart started the night with a set of his original songs, and by the way he has this material available on his new CD which you can purchase at the information table in our lobby. This CD also features our own Kate Carlson singing backup.

Mike was followed by the unbelievable Shawn Groves. Shawn brought his own style of humor and musical talent to the stage and from what I'm hearing everybody loved it.

This is just another example of some of the great things you'll find going on around Crossroads.

Thanks to all of you guys who volunteered to make it a great night.

New Series

This weekend we start our new series, "Three."

Each of the next three weeks we're going to be taking a look at a different word and each of these words tell alot about who Crossroads is and why it is we do what we do. I think you're going to be really able to connect to the vision and passion that is behind Crossroads.

I hope you'll be here and bring a friend.

An Unbeliveable Thought

I was reading this morning in Psalms 23:6 "your beauty and love chase after me every day of my life."(msg)

When you really think about it, the fact that God is chasing after me every day just blows my mind. Where in the heck do we come up with the fact that He's out there trying to screw up everything. We're the one's who manage to do that.

I am amazed that there is a God who is constantly pursuing me, who loves me unconditionally and who wants to see me at my best.

Yeah God!

Speedo Weather

Man, what about today's weather.

It's hard to believe that just a few days ago it was ice and snow!

Somethings in the Air

I really can't explain it but somethings about to happen.

I've got this feeling that big things are just around the corner. The last several days have given me this feeling that something big is about to happen at Crossroads.

Since Crossroads started on November 12, 2006 it's been great. We've seen lots of new faces and heard about lots of really great experiences and comments, but I believe that we're about to experience something really big.

The momentum is building! Get on board!

Shaun Groves Concert

This Friday night is the Shaun Groves concert at Crossroads. The concert starts at 7 p.m. and the doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

If you are planning on attending it is my suggestion that you get there early. We are expecting a great crowd.

We are also in need of a few people to do some volunteering. If you can help us out or know someone who can, please contact us at info@crossroadslebaon.com.

Thanks

Explanation

Ok I know that some of you think that we are just itching to cancel services at the slightest sight of bad weather. Well, you couldn't be further from the truth. We work really hard each week on putting together what we believe will be a great experience each Sunday. The problem with weather like we've had the last couple of weeks is that it keeps our volunteers at home and without them we can't take care of the needs of people who attend. Please understand that we are all about doing what we do but it takes more than just a couple of us to pull off the weekend services. We hope that this weather is over with and we can get back to business!

Weather......it stinks!

Here's the deal...

In light of the current weather situation and the potential for additional bad weather tonight, we have decided to cancel the services for tommorrow. I know you don't like it and neither do I, but remember I didn't order it.

See ya next week!

So It's Here....

Ok, the winter weather is here!

Check back here and on the website to know the status of services on Sunday.

Crossroads Q & A

In the event that you had signed up for the "Crossroads Q & A" that was to happen this Sunday, we wanted to let you know that it has been moved to March 4th.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but with the weather issue of last week and most people missing we just felt it would be better to give everyone a chance to make it on the 4th.

In the event that you can't make the 4th, we will be having another option later in the month of March. That will be announced later.

More Info On Middle School/High School

As most of you know, we have made a move to bring someone in to work with Middle School and High School. This was a decision that we really thought wouldn't happen for probably a year or so, but God being like He is just moved on us and said this was something that we needed to do a little sooner.

We think we've hired a top notch guy and if you haven't heard, his name is Chris Arnold. Chris grew up in Lebanon and attended high school here where he played basketball, ran track and cross country. He then attended college at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee. He is currently working at a church in the Jackson area. We anticipate that he will arrive here the first weekend in March.

Please be praying for Chris and Crossroads as we get set to launch another part of the vision that God has given us.

See ya.

Monday Morning Reflections

Well it was great to get back in the swing yesterday. Since the weather threw every thing off course, I was really glad and excited to be back doing what we do.

We had two great crowds and you guys are doing a great job of helping get the word out about Crossroads. One of the things that I encourage you to do is to suggest to people that they visit a couple of times. Most of the people really get a better feel if they come at least twice. As most of you know, it's kind of scary going to a place where you've never been. You never know who's gonna be there and what to expect. (you can be sure to tell people that we will not be stalking them if they visit) Most of the people that I'm talking with have said they "love it" and were really hooked after they made the second visit. It seems as though the second visit is giving them a feeling of comfort in knowing that nothing crazy is going to happen and they get to see some of the same faces that they saw on their original visit.

After talking with some of you yesterday I am convinced that yesterdays message was right where it was supposed to be. I can't tell you how many times I started over....and over...and over.....oh well, now I know why!

Later....

New Series Starts Next Week February 18th

Hey, I'm really excited about the series that starts on the 18th. It's called "Three" and I think you are gonna love it.

We're takin three words that I think really incapsulate who we are and what we do. It's gonna give you some great insight into the vision behind Crossroads. Remember, it starts next Sunday, February 18th.

Tell somebody!

Lookin' Forward to Tommorrow

Two weeks is way to long to have to wait!

That crazy weather last week really screwed things up, so I'm lookin forward to a great day tomorrow. Take some time to invite a friend and remember that we have two services that are identical. The first is at 9 a.m. and the second is at 11 a.m.

See you tomorrow in the am!

I'm Stoked!

There's some cool stuff happening around Crossroads these days. Seems God is doing some really great stuff in a lot of peoples lives...it's great to watch.

We're really excited about the next few weeks. We believe we're gonna move this thing to the next level. Please pray for us and those that you'll be bringing with you. God is wanting to do something big in Lebanon and I believe that Crossroads is going to be part of it!

Peace!

Big News!

Sometimes I am totally amazed at the way things happen.

Today we pulled the trigger on something that I had figured wouldn't happen for about a year or so. We just knew over the last several months that God was moving us faster than we had originally thought. So what is it you ask? We hired someone to take charge of our Middle School and High School environments! Man am I pumped! It will be a day or so before I put his name out, but you guys are going to be stoked!

Welcome to the team.........!

Super Bowl

The commercials during the Super Bowl were a little disappointing this year.

If your like me, I just love seeing what crazy stuff their gonna come up with. The halftime show was lacking also I thought. I was glad to see the Colts win since I think Peyton is a class act. He deserved it. It's great to see a good guy win every once in a while. I have to admit that he is the one guy that in all the years I've been watching sports hasn't acted like a jerk on camera. Always classy!

Later...

Yesterday Was a Buzz Kill

Boy was I blown away yesterday....I didn't even know it had snowed until I walked out the door and BAM! there it was. Screwed up the whole morning needless to say.

Well, I hope you aren't one of those who got out only to find that we had canceled the services due to the weather. If you did get out, sorry! It just so took us by suprise. We tried to contact as many of you by phone chain as we could and we posted on the website and the blog. Always check both of those if you have questions.

There you go....

West Coast Trip Info

Ok, here's a picture from my trip last week. I was honored to be one of about twenty pastors from around the country to get to spend an afternoon with Robert Schuller. In the event that you don't know, he is the founding pastor of the Crystal Cathedral in Los Angeles.

Now for those of you who have already jumped to conclusions, let me put your mind at rest. I realize that his style is very different from mine and we are light years apart in our approach to doing church but this guy is amazingly smart and gifted in his own God given way. I'll bring you up to speed in the next few days.

He was so full of wisdom and he loves Jesus as much as anybody I've ever been around.

(and just in case you couldn't tell, I'm the grey headed guy on the left)

What'ssssssss Upppppppppp?

No doubt that we're all waiting with baited breath tomorrow to see the Super Bowl commercials. Amazing isn't it?

I really care more about the commercials and the half time show than I do about the game. I would like to see old Peyton get the win.

Hope you make it to church in the am!

Coming Up Sunday

Hey, this Sunday we're winding up the "Dealing with Difficult People" series with a little info on "Dealing with My Difficult Self." (that includes dealing with your difficult self too)

If you have a chance, check out Romans Chapter 7:15-25.

We'll be reviewing each of the relationships we've talked about and then gettin on our "selves."

What Happened to Time

I am really running behind this week, it seems time gets away so quickly. The trip that I took on Tuesday and Wednesday really messed up my week....and then again it didn't.

I'm trying to get ready for Sunday so my posting about the trip will have to wait.

About me

  • I'm Randy S. Cook
  • From Lebanon, Tennessee, United States
  • Lead Pastor, Crossroads. While I am the Lead Pastor for Crossroads Community Church, the views expressed here are mine and not necessarily theirs, and some of them I just copied from people who really have an idea of what they're doing! Ha!!
